Why Join?

IABC-LI connects Long Island's business communicators with each other, the region's business community, and an international network of people and ideas.

Locally, this professional association brings together specialists who include public relations practitioners, corporate communicators, marketers, writers, photographers, graphic artists, Web site creators and video producers. Many are managers of in-house departments for corporations, healthcare organizations, schools and not-for-profits. Others are independents who expand in-house capabilities, create new programs and handle project assignments. This diversity offers members a wealth of contacts and resources.

IABC-LI members learn from each other with monthly programs that feature presenters on a wide range of practical and thought-provoking subjects. These gatherings are excellent places to gain advice and insight from peers. Need some feedback on a strategic marketing plan you are developing? Or a communication challenge you're facing? We're always ready to share experiences and solutions. And there is no need to wait for a meeting. You can open the local directory-another member benefit-to call a colleague for immediate input.

Top professional development opportunities abound from IABC headquarters in San Francisco, which oversees the activities of 14,000 members in 100 chapters. Companies with international connections find practical solutions to their communication challenges, as well.

Best practices, new thinking and a global exchange of ideas are fostered through the international Web site, and the monthly magazine, Communication World. And "Webinars," web-broadcast seminars, offer additional ways to disseminate information.

One more fact to consider: becoming an active IABC member offers opportunities to work as part of a team. You can stretch your capabilities, practice new skills, and further build your leadership abilities.

To connect with IABC-LI and all the resources we offer, contact Chapter President Claire Meirowitz (claire-m@att.net) or our Membership Chairperson Tina Ruark (truark@lloydstaffing.com). We'll be happy to add you to our mailing lists-and even happier to welcome you to a meeting.
