It Takes a Village ...In its 30-year history, the Long Island Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) has emerged as a leading professional community that helps its members connect with other communicators, gain credibility in the business world, and develop professionally. As with all communities, it is the collaboration and participation of its individual members that makes it thrive as a whole. Today's members are IABC's next leaders. This year, the Executive Board has created three new committees and invites its active members to become more involved. These committee opportunities are truly experience building, and will help those who volunteer raise their presence within the organization, while honing their leadership and communication skills by working with other professionals. Please e-mail your interest in participating in the following committees to Claire Meirowitz claire-m@att.net. I. Registration Committee This committee is responsible for the payment, registration and smooth operation of IABC Long Island Chapter's monthly luncheon meetings. Committee members will work closely with two members of the Executive Board. Excellent opportunity to advance your project-management skills and make important connections. (3 positions open) II. Membership Committee Work with a member of the Executive Board to actively market the IABC Long Island Chapter to prospective members. Committee members will also process new memberships and manage the membership database. Excellent opportunity to refine presentation, networking and administrative skills. (3 positions open) III. Sponsorship Committee Work with a member of the Executive Board to solicit sponsorships within the business community for monthly luncheons. Excellent opportunity to develop sales experience and network with high-level corporate marketers. (3 positions open) Other Opportunities: If you have ideas for other committees that you would like to see IABC-LI develop, such as a newsletter committee, for example, please offer your suggestions and volunteer to serve on one or more.
